July is the month when the true heartbeat of the Yorkshire countryside comes alive. If you stand out on our farm track on a clear July evening, you can feel the shift in the air – harvest is just around the corner., the fields are turning a deep, rich gold and summer has officially arrived.
For anyone staying at our farm cottage, July offers an authentic slice of rural life that you just can’t find in a town centre. It’s a time of long, warm evenings, stunning coastal walks, and monumental local celebrations. Whether you are bringing multiple generations together for a summer reunion or looking for a truly dog-friendly getaway, here is what makes July so magical on our family farm.
The Magic of the Upcoming Harvest
There is something nostalgic about harvest time. Very soon, the combines will be rolling out into the lanes, the sweet smell of cut straw will fill the air, and the farm will be a hive of activity.
For families staying with us, it is a front-row seat to how a British farm operates. Kids love watching the big tractors passing by, while you can sit back in the garden with a cup of tea, enjoying the gentle rhythmic hum of rural Yorkshire at work.
Once the sun begins to rise, the freshly harvested fields and the farm track provide the ultimate, place for a peaceful early morning dog walk.
