Did you think that the British Seaside is “closed” once the summer is over? Those of us who live just 5 miles from the East Yorkshire coast, we know a secret. Winter is actually a magical time to visit.
If you’re looking to blow away the post Christmas cobwebs, reconnect with family and give your dog a holiday spent relaxing and enjoying those beach and countryside walks, here is why a stay at our farm cottage between Bridlington and Driffield should be on your 2026 calendar.
1 – Beaches without the crowds.
In the height of summer, Bridlington beaches are bursting with activity. But in January and February they belong to the walkers. The seasonal bans on dogs on the beach are lifted during the winter months meaning you and your dog can have the run of the wide beaches between Bridlington and Fraisthorpe. There is nothing quite like the sight of a dog running across a near empty beach with the North Sea air in their lungs.
2 – Space for the Whole Family (including the Grandparents!)
We know that planning a multi-generational holiday can be tricky. You want everyone together but still want some space.
That’s why our cottage is designed that in mind. With the three bedrooms we have room for up to 6 people. Our ground floor bedroom and adjacent shower room is perfect for grandparents who might want to skip the stairs and have their own space. Whilst the rest of the family can spread out in the two upstairs bedrooms with a large walk in shower in the family bathroom. It’s about being together without being under each other’s feet.
3 – Step Out and into Nature.
You won’t need the care to enjoy fresh air. Just outside the door is the farm track leading to open farmland. It’s the perfect spot for a morning stroll, wellies might be needed, while the sun rises over the Yorkshire landscape.
If you look out of the back bedroom, you’ll see the stable yard. Our horses are tucked up cosy for the winter, and we always welcome guests to arrange to come and say hello to them. It’s a wonderful way for children to learn about farm life – and if you’re visiting a little later in the year, you may even spot the first of the season’s foals – the first one is due 1st April.
4 – Warm toes and Quiet Nights.
After a day exploring the cliffs at Flamborough or the shops in Driffield, there is a special kind of place that comes with returning to a warm cottage. Whether you’re sharing a bottle of wine around the dining table or watching a movie while the dog snoozes on the rug in front of the open fire, it’s the ultimate way to recharge your batteries.
