There is a palpable change in the air here in East Yorkshire as we move into March. The days are stretching out, the first daffodils are nodding their heads along the farm track, and in the stable yard, the atmosphere is full of quiet anticipation.
If you’re looking for a Spring getaway that offers a bit more than just a place to sleep, here is why March is the most magical month to visit us.
1 – The Best Kind of “Neigh-bours”
March marks the official start of Foal Watch! Our back bedroom overlooks the stable yard, and it’s often the first place guests head to in the morning – peeling back the curtains to see if our newest residents have arrived.
For families staying with us, we love inviting you to meet the horses. There is something truly special about children (or adults) getting to see a wobbly-legged foal take its first steps in the Yorkshire Sunshine. It’s an experience you simply won’t find in a town centre hotel.
2 – Mother’s Day Retreat
With Mother’s Day falling in March, we often see three generations of family joining us for getaway (with the dog as well, of course)
Our large farmhouse kitchen table really comes into it’s own here. It’s the perfect spot for a celebratory Sunday brunch or a long afternoon of tea and cake while the sun streams through the window. It is also my favourite spot for a quiet cup of tea in the morning – watching the world go by through the window while the rest of the house is asleep.
3 – Ease for Every Generation.
As the weather warms up, it’s the perfect time to get the grandparents out for a coastal trip. We know that the secret to a successful multi-generational holiday is comfort, space and accessibility.
- No stairs required: Our ground floor bedroom and adjacent shower room means that nobody has to miss out on the fun because of the stairs.
- Space to Breathe: With 3 spacious bedrooms, there is plenty of room for six people to relax without feeling “under each other’s feet”
4 – Coastal Walks & Spring Skies
hile the farm is waking up, the coast is transforming too. The short distance to Bridlington, Fraisthorpe or Flamborough is worth making as it’s breath-taking in March. The cliffs are starting to team with birdlife, and the spring tides bring a fresh energy to the beaches.
After a day exploring, you can return to the peace of the farm. Your dog can enjoy one last run up the farm track while you watch the sunset over the open fields over Burton Agnes Hall – a view that never gets old.
